There are several types of finishes and it is critical that each type is put in the right room of the house for the best results. High gloss used mostly in kitchens on doors and window trim. Semi-gloss is used in kitchens, bathrooms, trim, chair rails. Satin is used in family rooms, foyers, hallways, kids' bedrooms. Eggshell is used in dining rooms, living rooms. Flat or matte is used in adults bedrooms and other interior rooms that won't be roughed up by kids
Preparation
This step of painting is the most important of all, making sure the preparation is done right is critical to every paint job. Without the right preparation, a beautiful paint job can turn bad very fast. So alway make sure you take the time and prep every surface that paint will be applied to 100% before. Used the correct type of finished sand paper, to get nice and smooth surfaces, dust brushes and a damp rag to wipe down any dust that might be remaining on doors, walls and trim etc.

Finish
Once the job is complete always double check everything that has been recently painted for any small imperfections or missed spots, tape lines etc. Clean up all materials and drops to finish the job.
